What Does The Cholesterol Level Of 270 Indicate?

I just had my cholesterol tested.....total is 270...HDL is 100...LDL is 50....Triglycerides are 92.....i was concerned about the high total score but was informed that the high HDL and low LDL scores negated the danger of the total score....is this accurate?

Dear welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

Yes you have been informed correctly. HDL is high density lipid and is called as friendly lipid. HDL is not responsible for any problem with the health , in fact it is beneficial. It should be more than 45, you have 100, so its really good. Exercises help in improving levels of HDL in comparison to other lipids.

However , in my opinion your cholesterol levels are very high. Normally total cholesterol should be less than 200 in a healthy person. You have 270, so it is very high. You can not just look at your HDL and do not do anything to reduce your total cholesterol. This level of cholesterol may negate the beneficial effects of high HDL, please consider it in this way.

You need to reduce your fat intake, cut on carbohydrates, increase water and fluids intake, do regular exercises to reduce your total cholesterol.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please contact us for more queries. I wish you good health. Kindly rate this reply. Thanks
