Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had cardiac angiogram a week ago. all went well. My dog was very sick and when I was taking care of her 24/7 I forgot the nurse instruction for me to drink lots and lots of water immediately after my procedure. Yesterday I discovered orange liquid came out when I urinated. It continued into the night. I then realized I could have been dehydrated being so engrossed in my dog s condition. We were together day and night sleeping in same room, and I walked her 3 to 4 times a day because she could not do the brisk long walks any more with advanced spleen all cancer. That s why I ignored the taking in a lot of water after recent angiogram. I wish the hospital put the water intake requirement in the Instruction Sheet I was given which addressed treatment of puncture sites on my arms and that I should not be alone the first 24 hrs after my procedure. Yes, I will inform my cardiologist s office tomorrow. I would like to know what I should have done when the orangey urine started and was there any treatment I could have given myself. I took great quantity of warm water and warm milk. Is milk a good antidote in general? I was in pain every time I urinated the orangey fluid, so I had no appetite to eat my dinner. Yes, I could take yogurt and found it comforting and soothing. What should I have done? Check myself into Emergency Room at nearest hospital? Clara Leung
