Hello,
lab results without history information cannot be fully evaluated. I'll give you the best I can with what you've shared. I've noticed his fasting glucose which is too high and indicates diabetes mellitus. Does he receive treatment for diabetes? Is he fat or is he skinny? Does he have a family history for diabetes (what type)?
His cholesterol levels (particulary LDL and HDL) are not great either. Diabetes and lipid disorders is a bad combination. He should start a statin, adopt a healthy diet and engage in a daily physical activity program - if not contraindicated by other medical conditions.
I've noticed his liver function tests also, which indicate minor liver damage. This could be a fatty liver, among other conditions. Fatty liver is a fairly common finding in diabetics, particularly the fat ones. Does he drink alcohol? What kind of medication is he using, if any?
I would suggest further liver evaluation with ultrasound and repeat testing with liver function tests.
Discussing about treatment I need to clarify the following:
- about diabetes: treatment depends on the type of diabetes and how serious it is. This needs further evaluation with history information and a glycosylated hemoglobin measurement. A good start for type 2 diabetes is metformin. For type 1 diabetes only insulin can be used.
- about cholesterol: I usually start patients like him with atorvastatin 20mg once every night.
- about diet: maintain a healthy body weight and avoid fatty foods and sugar. Eating a lot of fiber can help in glucose and lipid regulation.
Kind Regards!
