What Does The CT Scan Report Indicate?

what does exaggeration of the cardiomediastinal silhouette and crowding of the bronchovascular markings mean? I currently have had fever and coughing which are slowly resolving with antibiotics, steroids, and inhalers. Prior to this acute sickness, a CT scan after a fall and rib fx, found multiple lung nodules which have recently grown from about 1 year ago. Is all this related? Are the growing nodules a problem?

Hi,

Cardiomediatinal silhouette enlargement means that there is an enlargement of heart which may be normal if its minimal however it could be a significant finding if you have had a disease of heart or lungs in past or present. It would need more elaboration and investigations to arrive at a diagnosis.

Overcrowding of broncho-vascular marking may be also a sign of a lung disease like edema (swelling) which needs a correlation with the present condition. Lung nodules are a significant finding and indicates an existing disease or a disease which happened in past. There are various reasons for nodules varying from infections to malignancies. I would advise you to review the finding with your treating doctor and get the diagnosis confirmed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
