What Does Swelling On Tongue, Cheek And Lower Lips Indicate?

The left side of my tongue, upper palette, throat, cheek, lower lip and gums of back molars feel but do not look swollen. I am having difficulty talking without biting on my tongue. When I compare the right side of my tongue to the left side, the left side is a bit more pink/red. It began about an hour after I ate. I thought this might be related to food allergies (not that I have been diagnosed with any allergies). I took an antihistamine but it hasn't helped much.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms swelling of entire one side of oral cavity is due to allergic reaction and as it is after taking food it is definitely due to allergic reaction to any of the component of the food..
Nothing to worry as the allergic reaction may take atleast 3 to 4 days to resolve and you should take anti-allergic medication that you have already taken one dose for 5 days..
Take anti-inflmmatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
Gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl and milk of magnesia.
Avoid hot, spicy and hard food to prevent further irritation..
Sucking ice cubes and cold waer gargles will help in reducing inflammation and redness..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
