What Does Swelling In The Right Lower Leg Indicate?
recently i have started having swelling in my right leg below my knee to my foot. first time i went to the ER (we were traveling). had an ultrasound done for DVT and nothing was found. Was diagnosed with Breast Cancer stage 1A and have had 4 rounds of chemo and will begin radiation next week. The same symptom is showing up again and more rapidly in the day, like right now. Have notice some discomfort. Which type of doctor do I need to see to figure out why it keeps happening. I have started wearing a compression sock during the day.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, if Doppler ultrasound is normal and reports are reliable then possibility of cellulitis of leg should be ruled out. A surgeon review would be good in such case for local examination and baseline investigations may be done and antibiotics may be needed. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be used and elevation of the leg whirl sleeping may help. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
