What Does Sore, Swollen And Bruised Vagina Post Intercourse Suggest?

I had sex about a week ago with a new partner and was feeling sore and had pain after I urinated. This has happened to me on occasion and I figured I was just raw since it had been awhile. Usually it goes away in a few days. I have now been having pain for a week. It hurts to urinate. I have some swelling on my vaginal lips. and now on my pubic bone, on the right and left side - it is extremely sore to touch. What is going on?!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the swelling, bruised vagina post intercourse with new partner indicates severe vaginal, cervical infection or pelvic inflammatory condition wit Chlamydia or Gonorrhea.

* In my clinic, I do recommend complete physical examination with per vagina and speculum examination with

- complete hemogram

- urine microscopy

- saline wet preparation of vaginal discharge or swab

- culture of cervical swab

- ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis ( as per the need )

- panel of lab reports for sexually transmitted diseases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
