What Does Sharp Pain In The Ribcage On The Left Side Indicate?

So woke up Saturday night out of my sleep with a sharp pain in my left side. More in the front by my ribs. Pain does not move or radiate. Been constant. Pain is in the area of 10th, 11th and 12th rib. Hurts to take a deep breath in on my left side. The chest CT showed a partially collapsed left lung toward the bottom along with some fluid. I am also 25.5 weeks pregnant. I have been inpatient OB for 4 days. They ruled Kidney stones, spleen infection, urinary tract infection, blood clot in lungs.

since you have got a CT scan and it shows collapsed are of a lung and pain in the ribs
did you look for rib fracture or any trauma that you might have sustained knowingly or unknowingly
have you retained a lot of water during pregnancy
you should evaluate the fluid in the pleura for TB
ADA test for pleural fluid

and consult a pulmonologist
if it comes positive than you should start treatment

TB remains dormant in normal individuals but any state where the immunity goes down it flares up
and since pregnancy is a low immunity state you should get it evaluated
it’s a very common cause for such a presentation
also get a complete blood count
increases in lymphocytes more than 40 percent also points towards TB

feel free to ask any follow up questions

best regards

be safe
