What Does Sharp Pain In The Hips Indicate?

I have sharp pain in my hip - it has been there now for about 2 weeks. It is causing me to walk in such a way that it is putting stress on my spine, knee and muscles in my right leg which is the bad hip leg. I am trying to decide what the issue is and if it is best treated by a Chiropractor or some other type of Doctor.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A sharp pain in the hip could be lumbar spine disease or a hip joint arthritis or even a sacroileitis. None of the above can be diagnosed without a proper examination by a neurosurgeon and an orthopaedician . You will definitely need a scan also to rule out any bone degeneration and I would advise you to do the same before any thing else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
