What Does Severe Pain In The Toe Indicate?

Hi there, I have a none displaced fracture of my 5th metatarsal bone, I have a moon boot on for 3 weeks and need to go back for x-rays to make sure it is still non displaced. On the weekend I bumped it in the bath and now I have a horrible shooting pain and needles from my bug toe all the way across the top of my foot and down to the se of my foot. Should I be worried? My Dr said it is very easy to break the fracture into a displaced one, is this true?

Hello,

Yes, it can display by any trauma. You better get an x-ray of the foot done to know what is the status of the foot bones. If it has become displaced fracture, you might need surgical intervention. It's not the question to worry since it's not very life threatening to your life but still get the above things done so that you can get better soon. If you have pain, you can take some painkillers for now like Diclofenac, Tramadol, Pethidine, etcetera.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
