What Does Severe Pain Below The Rib Cage On The Right Side Indicate?

I am having severe abdominal pain just below my rib cage on the right hand side. It started when I reached for something while sitting in my chair. It felt like the bottom of my rib cage pinched something. There were severe spasms and a spot the size of my fist swelled up. The only way to get relief was to hold my fist over it and apply pressure. I have had this happen before and was told it was my gall bladder. I had my gall bladder removed in November 2016.
