What Does Severe Pain Around The Hips After A Surgery Indicate?
Could my son have Compartment syndrome post surgery (incision and wash out) of accumulated abcess of fusobacterium at hip joint? He reported severe pain 3 days post op. Presents with increased fluid in muscle and fascia of affected leg as presented on MRI and US. Palpation of area is tightness, Induration and increased sensitivity and pain at area. Reports excessive pain deep in muscle and around hip with slightest movement, shooting stabbing pain with standing, feelings of pins and needles, feelings of loss of feeling in lower foot and toes at times. Presents with engorged blood vessels in feet with standing. And the affected edematous leg circumference measuring much larger than left unaffected leg.
Hello, Thanks for the query, As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persists you can consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan to rule out tendon or ligament involvement. Wishing all the best. Thanks
