What Does Redness On The Erythematous Mucosa Indicate?

today i had a colonoscopy and dr took a sample from an area and called it erythematous mucosa. she wants to biopsy it. should i be concerned? One month ago i had a CT scan of the large intestine from inflammation and they seen 2 spots, prompting me to further get checked out with the SCOPE. At the time of inflammation it was diagnosed as diverticulitus but today dr says she didn t see those spots but seen in that same spot some inflammationa and took a biopsy to see why it was red.

Hello dear

Warm welcome to Healthcaremagic.com
I have gone through your concern in depth .

* Redness over the mucosa indicates inflammation process of the body
pertaining to some bacterial , viral invasion or disease process .
Erythema is also part of this process , where the surface becomes
more prominent than usual surrounding area .

* Biopsy takes part of the area and doctor gets the histological
picture of the concerned area and by that you have more precise
judgment regarding your current situation .

So do not panic till the biopsy results come .

Hope this clears your query .
Welcome for any further assistance .

Regards .
