Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Pressure On The Roof Of The Mouth Indicate?
I have a sinus issue - I have to been to a couple of ENT's and they say they dont see anything wrong. My sinus is laying on my top molars - I had a tooth extracted about a year and a half ago and a sinus patched. I can feel pressure in the roof of my mouth and it pops and them I get gritty / hard pieces that go down. I am frustrated and dont know who to turn to. The doctors tell me that there is nothing hard that can go down from my sinus's. when I bent upside down yesterday - clear - like water dripped out of my nose.
It looks like Sinusitis it that can be due to Infection in the sinus or can be due to other causes like Allergy..
Many a times during tooth extraction any small piece of the tooth can slip into the sinus causing infection and needs investigations like x ray and CT Scan for confirmation..
So my suggestion is to consult an ENT Surgeon or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, decongestant nasal spray like Xylometazoline and do steam inhalation.. Take antihistamines like Xylometazoline and decongestant like Phenylephrine.. Do saline nasal irrigation..
If there is any foreign body in the sinus like a tooth piece or if there is no improvement with conservative medical treatment then Endoscopic sinus surgery can be advised..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
