What Does Presence Of Blood In Urine Indicate?

I am 53 years old and have had a regular menstrual cycle since turning 42. Last month I didn t have a period and this month I m bleeding only when I urinate. No blood any other time for 3 days now. Is this normal if I m going through the change or should I be concerned? Don t want to write it off as just menopause and there be a medical issue.

Hi,

As per your complain you have problem of blood in urine that may be because of bladder infection. Burning sensation while urination, more frequent urination problem, blood in urine all are symptoms of urinary tract infection. Do a urine test and microscopic examination to detect any infection present or not.

If infection is present than start proper antibiotics under doctor's suggestion. Kidney stone cause blood in urine and is painless sometime. Ultasonography can be done if needed. Consult a nephrologist for further diagnosis.

I hope my guidance is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
