What Does Posterior Disc Bulge/osteophyte Complex Mean?
Hello, At C5 6 7 There is posterior disc bulge/osteophyte complex, causing moderate spinal canal stenosis. There is a mild left neural foraminal narrowing secondary to uncovertebral joint and facet hypertrophy. 2nd L4-5 S1 There is posterior disc bulge osteophyte complex and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, causing mild compression of the thecalsac There has been retraction of the previously described left foraminal broad based disc protrusion There is prominent reactive. Subcortical marrow edema of the L4 L5 joints bilaterally.
1. There is bulging disc in between small bones in the neck spine at levels C 5 through C 7. The osteophyte complex is a term used to define degenerative extra calcium deposition at the end of the small bones. So you have extra calcium deposition which is causing the discs to bulge posteriorly in to the spinal canal. There is also pressure on the nerves and nerve roots on either side which can cause neck pain.
2. At levels L 4 -L 5 and L 5 - S 1 there is also disc bulge and this is causing mild compression on the sac covering the spinal cord. This can also cause pain.
There is retraction of the disc bulge on left side which was earlier described as broad based.
There is degenerative change causing bone swelling at L 4 - L 5 facet joints on each side. This is a mild condition and you can take pain killers and avoid lifting heavy weights.
