What Does Positive ASO Mean On A Blood Test Report?

hi my brother hass uric acid. We have consulted with the doctor and doctor asked us to go for a blood test. In blood report Uric acid is their along with it RA factor is positive, ASO is also positive. I need to know more about it especially about ASO

Hi,

ASO means antistreptolysin O. It is positive in streptococcus infection esp.throat infection. Streptococcus infection has to be treated with antibiotic. If not treated then it might lead cardiac and kidney affection.

So ASO is advisable when sore throat not getting well. RA factor positive in rheumatoid arthritis. But for further confirmation X-ray and anti-CCP needs to be done.
