What Does Pain On The Right Side Of The Abdomen Indicate?

I have growing and increasing pain in my right side that feels like kidney stone or that I need to have a bowel movement. I have had a bowel movement but it is getting increasingly more painful. When I press in my tummy a pain shoots down to my groin area.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem suggestive of a ureteric stone and the pain you are experiencing is known as ureteric colic. In my opinion, you should do the following:

1. Visit a nephrologist/urologist to evaluate ureteric stone.
2. Get an ultrasound of the abdomen.
3. Drink extra water. Increased intake of fluids can help flush out small stones without any medicine.
4. You could take a painkiller like Buscopan if it gets too bad.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
