General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to history provided you are having pain in the throat and you are having positive thyroid cancer history so your posterior pharynx examination has to be done first. Acute pharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection also can lead such presentation. If congestion present then decongestant can be prescribed. Complete blood count and ultrasonography done if needed for further workup. Consult physician or otorhinolaryngologist for examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
