Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
There are a few possible causes of this pain.
If you walk a lot than a
stress fracture can be the cause. These are small fractures that happen in the
metatarsus (the bones at the area) and are due to regular trauma while walking or running a lot.
Another possible but more rare cause is Morton
neuroma which is a growth in the area that is very sensitive.
I would recommend you to have and x-ray (rule out fractures) and if there is still pain there you can have an MRI to diagnose the Morton neuroma.
Another possible cause is and to help with it you may use
paracetamol,
ibuprofen and cold compresses locally.
To conclude i would say:
- use paracetamol and ibuprofen orally and cold compresses locally
- if no improvement in 1-2 weeks please have an x-ray of the foot
- if the x-ray is normal and you still have pain you might need an MRI
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
