What Does Pain In The Pelvis And Hips On The Left Side Indicate?

I m having pain in my left pelvic area and hip. Hurts when walking. Hurts to put weight on that leg, so I am limping. It also hurts very bad when I cough or sneeze. I feel better in the morning, by then as the day wears on, I am worse. I did not fall, or injure myself, but am recovered from rectal cancer. Had surgery 10 months ago. The pain in my hip has been getting worse since then. During hurricane Irma, I was going up and down lots of stairs with bags. That s when the pain became really bad.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I understand your concern for your health condition but since you have not mentioned your age, it is little bit difficult to predict.

As per your history, it looks like you are having probability of inguinal hernia. Your way of presentation quite a bit matches with it.

I would suggest you to consult your surgeon and get it examined to find out exact cause for the same. Till then, I would suggest you to avoid lifting heavy weights.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mrugank Bhavsar
