What Does Pain In The Hips On The Right Side Indicate?

I have hip pain in my right hip. I had a spinal fusion and hip stabilization 4/3 years ago respectively. I now have hip pain that wraps around my hip to the very top part of my thigh near my groin but not in the groin. What might this be and should I be contacting my surgeon about it?

Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this-

1) Do a clinical examination by your doctor [Ortho] and to confirm exact pathology do one MRI and blood, differential count.

2) Discuss with your doctor about oral antibiotics if an infection is found and talk about [injectable steroid] if inflammation is present.

3) Use assistive device and talk to your physio about a specific exercise plan.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this-

1) Use some type of padding to reduce the pressure on your knees if your job or hobby requires a lot of kneeling.

2) Bend your knees when you lift. Failing to do so puts extra stress on the bursae in your hips.

3) Carrying heavy loads puts stress on the bursae. Use a dolly or a wheeled cart instead.

4) Taking frequent breaks. Alternate repetitive tasks with rest or other activities.

5) Try not to sit in one position too long, especially on hard surfaces, because that puts pressure on the bursae in your hips and buttocks.

6) Try to maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight places more stress on your joints.

7) Strengthening your muscles can help protect your affected joint. Warming up and stretching before strenuous activities to protect your joints from injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
