What Does Pain In Heart Imply?

Often my heart hurts. The pain feels like someone is squeezing my heart or sometimes is anywhere around my chest or a little above my belly. When that occurs it is impossible for me to breathe and when i try the pain is more painful than ever. It causes me to stay frozen because whenever i move it hurts, and i dont know what causes this. Can you tell me how i can stop this horrible pain.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

Any type of chest pain should be taken seriously and should be evaluated to rule out the possible cardiac cause.

Cardiac pain does not change on respiration but it occurs after exercise or exertion and relieves after rest. Cardiac pain is never localized and is diffusely present over the chest.

So you should get yourself evaluated. I'll advise you for an ECG, 2D echo, Chest X-ray and a stress test. The definitive medicine will depend on the results of above-mentioned tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Sameer Maheshwari, Cardiologist
