What Does Pain And Swelling In The Abdomen Indicate?

Yes, thank you .... Two days ago I took a fall and went down hard ... it knocked the wind out of me, and I fell in a way that my right arm was extended and I fell down on my stomach area. My instinct says that I brused or cracked a rib, and my abdomen is swollen. It hurts to reach, cough, or take a deep breath. I know that there is nothing that can be done about a cracked rib but let it heal. I just don t know if this is natural when you fall that hard, and it s like being in a car accident, the next couple of days your whole body aches. Do you have any thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The presentation of narrated symptoms suggest that there is possible muscle or ligament sprain or strain involving abdomen wall, hematoma in subcutaneous region or inside abdomen cavity.

I would recommend to get a prescription of an ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis for further guidelines.

Thanks.

Take care.
