What Does No Central Canal Or Neural Foraminal Stenosis Mean?
I received this from my doctor's office...not sure what to make of it No central canal or neural foraminal stenosis. There is a very minimal posterior midline disc bulge with no mass effect. Noted incidentally is a linear focus of increased T2 signal in the right lateral aspect of the disc suggestive of a linear annular tear which extends from the right paracentral location the disc laterally by approximately 1.2 cm.
According to report, you have mild degenerative disc disease of spine. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.
1.There is no narrowing of central neural canal(present in spinal cord)or lateral neural foramen(present in vertebrae through which nerve roots exit). There is a very minimal posterior midline intervertebral disc bulge with no mass effect.
2.There is also small annular tear in intrevertebral disc.It is an incidental finding.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first as you have very early changes. Surgery should be the last option. There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief. Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon.
