What Does Neural Foraminal Stenosis In The Report Suggest?

I have:c5-c6 - there is broad based osteophyte disc complex with facet hypertrophy. There is mild central canal narrowing. There is mild right neural foraminal narrowing. c6-c7 - There is a broad based osteophyte disc complex and facet hypertrophy. There is mild central canal narrowing. There is moderate to severe left and mild right neural foraminal stenosis. What in the world does that mean? How bad is it?

Radiologist 's  Response
Hello

Report suggests degenerative disc disease of cervical spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.

1.At C5-6 level, there is broad based osteophyte disc complex(complex made up of bulged disc and osteophyte) with facet(bony joints in between two vertebra) hypertrophy and this causing mild central canal narrowing with mild narrowing of right neural foramen.

2.At C6-7 level,disc-osteophyte complex is causing mild central canal narrowing with moderate to severe narrowing of left lateral neural foramen and mild narrowing of right lateral neural foramen.

Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first.
Surgery should be the last option.

Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.

Get well soon.
Take Care
