What Does My Uterus Measurement Indicate?

My uterus measures 11.5x8.4x7.8 cm and has a heterogeneous appearance with a discrete fundal fibroid measuring 7.6x9.0x7.0 cm. I have had abdomen pain as well as pelvic pain. The doctor has instructed that I have a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo ooperectomy. No bleeding. Going through menopause. Would you recommend the same thing? Also do the ovaries have to be removed and what purpose do they serve?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you going through the menopause then you may remove the womb with the tubes and the ovaries. Ovaries are important as they produce female hormones and if removed may cause a woman to experience menopause symptoms.
On the other hand, if you are already through menopouse then the ovaries are already ceasing working and they can be removed.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
