What Does My Urine Culture Report Show?
hello Dr.Samuel recently my mother had a urine examination as she said her urine was smelling, so she did her urine examination, in her report the result was urine for culture shows growth of insignificant organisms after 24 hrs incubation, her weight is 51 kg, height 5 feet 3 inches.

A urine culture is done to grow or to culture the most abundant micro-organism causing the infection of the urinary tract.
The cultures which are positive show predominant growth of a single bacteria.
The urine culture shows growth of insignificant organisms i.e. there is no predominant growth of any organism.
Thus, urine infection is unlikely.
Further investigations are required to know the cause of foul smelling urine.
