What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

I ve had 2 ultrasounds a year apart. the doctor says my gallbladder is full gallstones and says there is nothing to do. It is a wait and see until I will probably have to have it removed. I would rather be proactive and do something to dissolve the stones or eliminate them. Any suggestions. Also ultrasound revealed Barrett s Esophagus. which I am taking medication to eliminate stomach acid. Again it is a wait and see. I am angry and concerned as each is a bandaid and not addressing the issue.

Hello. Thanks for asking on healthcaremagic. Gall stones are very common in the normal population though not discovered in all. They come to light as an incidental finding or when they cause cholecystitis ie inflammation of gall bladder. However most patients remain asymptomatic. There s not much to do to try to dissolve those stones and it is not required too. In case of any right upper quadrant abdominal pain kindly get in touch with your surgeon as it could be cholecystitis. Regarding barrets esophagus, it is when the lining of the lower esophagus is replaced by th gastric lining. treatment involves keeping acid reflux at bay because barrets esophagus is caused as a metaplastic reaction to stomach acid reflux. Barrets esophagus is a premalignant condition and needs to be cared for. I guess you have got sound advice and treatment from your physician, stick to it, thanks.
