What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Hi, I m 46 years old, and due to an abnormal bleeding this month and family history with uterus issues, I had a pelvic ultrasound done this week. Unfortunately my doctor is out this week, but I received the following results today: ** FINDINGS **: Technique: Trans-abdominal and endovaginal images were obtained in accordance with the protocol. Uterus measurements: 9.5 x 5.6 x 5.1 cm Uterus: Retroverted. Anterior intramural fibroid measuring up to 4.5 cm. Echogenic focus measuring 3 mm with posterior shadowing in the posterior uterus, probably a calcification. Multiple nabothian cysts within the cervix. Endometrial stripe: 5 mm in thickness Right ovary/adnexa: Within normal limits. Left ovary/adnexa: Not visible Free fluid: Small Family History: My mother died of uterus cancer at 41 yrs old, and the women (sisters and their daughters) on her side had uterus issues. I also have 2 sisters with fibroids, and my 26 year old daughter had 3 polyps removed from her uterus last year. My question is: Based on the findings and given my family history, do the findings show anything that should be of concern to me? I don t have the heavy monthly bleeding like others suffer, but 2 or 3x a year, I ll have 2 periods in one month, which happened this month, but with it was accompanied with back pain - which is new. I want to be prepares to ask the right questions when my doctor returns. Thanks, EL

The scans suggest you have fibroids and nt something to be worried about.

You need to discuss with your doctor as to how you are going to treat your fibroid.... through medicines or oot for surgery???

Thanl you
