What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Hi doc, I have had an ultrasound scan done on my neck and found a prominent superficial vein over the left sternomastoid muscle. Occasionally I do feel slight pain when pressure applies on it. Not sure why is there a prominent/bulging vein on the left side of my neck which I didn t notice all these while. Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is a physiological variant and does not indicate any significant disease condition. There is no thrombophlebitis or block and thus no definite treatment is required either.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
