i just had my results from my ultrasound on thyroid...Mildly enlarged heterogenous thyroid with 3 benign-appearing masses in the left lobe...I no it s not cancer good thing, but don t understand all this, as my family doctor the office called me today to see me asap & I go Wednesday. I been to many sites on this, but get confused with doctor languages or studies I have read on. Sorry I need normal talk.
Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
From the ultrasound scan, there are some features which can say whether the nodule can be cancer or not. But this is not a 100% sure test. So we need to confirm that with a needle test (FNAC). Probably your doctor is calling you to suggest this test.
Dont worry it is a simple test like your blood test. The chance of thyroid cancer in a nodule is less than 5%.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
