Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

Your HIV report is reading as reactive meaning it is positive for HIV and 1 and 2 antibodies. Qualitative test meaning a test which detects the presence of any antibodies against HIV 1 and 2. But it has to be confirmed by western blot. You have been rightly suggested to confirm your HIV status by western blot. For any qualitative test there is a cut off value which is determined by serial testing and decided by the manufacturer of the testing kit.
Any positive or negative reaction is compared with the cut off value. Values above the cut off are taken as positive and values below the cut off are taken as negative.
Thanks

The people usually ask such questions and unusually concerned .You are HIV negative. Don't worry, let the Western blot come , it will reconfirm your negativity.
