Hi, I am 37 years old man, my during my last blood test I found my total cholesterol is 216, HDL: 34, LDL:162, I have already started taking a pill of Lipvas 20MG daily (bedtime). Would like to know should I start Niacin 500 Mg a day, maybe for 15 days??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hey, after reviewing your test results, it seems you have dyslipidemia, i.e abnormal amount of lipids in your blood.

However your have already started lipvas 20mg which is the right drug for it. But I would recommend you to start brisk walk or jogging for 30 mins daily. It helps a lot with dyslipidemia.

Now as far as niacin is concerned, you can take it. There is no problem. You can use it upto 1 month if you want to.

And i would recommend you to repeat these blood tests after 6-8 weeks.

Have a nice day ahead.
