Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.
I have gone through your
MRI report and will try my best to explain it to you. The
thecal sac is a sac like covering which completely encases the
spinal cord within the
spinal canal. There are two areas of concern when ruling out spinal canal stenosis....first is the central spinal canal and second is the exiting neural foraminae. The things which can cause extrinsic compression of the spinal canal or the thecal sac are protruding discs or bony outgrowths called osteophytes, which are age related, and combination of both these things can cause extrinsic impression of the thecal sac causing spinal canal stenosis.
In your report broad based bony projections along with disc herniation at C6-C7 level as well as degenerative disc at C3-C4 are only mild, therefore require only conservative management. If you experience any signs of
nerve compression such as altered sensation or
muscle weakness of any part of the body I would recommend you consult your local neuro physician.
In short, the features described on your MRI are most likely age related changes and are mild in intensity.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
