What Does Moderate Amount Of Free Fluid In The Pelvis Mean?

What could this mean? Ultrasound findings. status post: total hysterectomy due to endometriosis. multiple bowel surgeries. present ileostomy. repair of vaginal/bladder fistula due to mesh movement.U/S done due to pelvic and vaginal pain as well as abnormal amount of vaginal discharge. There is a moderate amount of free fluid in the pelvis. There is a thin septation seen within the fluid near the right adnexa.

Hello,

It can be an inflammatory reaction or post operative infection. As of now only close followup is required. If the size persists or you develop symptoms like fever or abdominal pain, the fluid must be drained under ultrasound guidance.
