General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Spinal stenosis occurs when the space around your spinal cord narrows and causes pressure on your nerve roots.

Paget's disease or major trauma to the spine can also lead to spinal stenosis. When this condition is due to back problems present at birth, it's called congenital spinal stenosis.

Rarely, untreated severe spinal stenosis may progress and cause permanent:

Numbness, Weakness, Balance problems, Incontinence, Paralysis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
