What Does Mild Prostatomegaly On Abdomen Scan Mean?

My father 65 years old and he has pain in lower abdomen. Doctor told us to take abdomen scan. Now the report says PROSTATE : Size mildly enlarged & measures about 3.2*3.4*4.0 CM, Volume 23ml. IMPRESSION : MILD PROSTATOMEGALY. Could you explain the report and guide us on the required treatment ? Thanks

Thanksfor query.
Your 65 years old father had pain in lower abdomen and his Ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen has revealed mild enlargement of prostate.

The normal volume of the prostate is 18-20 gms .

The prostate gland starts increasing in size after the age of 60 years and gives rise to obstructive urinary symptoms like frequency for urination ,urgency.nocturia.poorsteram etc and discomfort in lower abdomen

Consult urologist for digital rectal examination and further treatment .

Taking alpha blockers like Tosulosin once a day will give relief from discomfort and improve his urine flow.
