Hello,

Yes, it is concerning since she is suffering from 3-4 months. The hila of the lung are the central middle part of the lung. This is where the bronchi or airways, nerves, blood vessels and lymph nodes converge, congestion in this area is indicative of infection, which needs to be treated. She will be completely cured if proper treatment is given.

Get her clinically examined by a GP, she will have to get done sputum tests, blood tests, CT / MRI, etc., to detect lymph node enlargement, fungal infection, COPD, developing tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, lymphoma, etc. Her treatment will depend on the pathology detected & severity of the symptoms. Sometimes, stress-emotional or physical and anxiety triggers the symptoms. Help her stay out of stress.

She is advised to stay in an air-conditioned room or keep a humidifier in her room. She should take adequate amount of water and fluids. Dehydration triggers cough, she can take antihistamine at bedtime for relief. She should take sips of water throughout the day and keep cough lozenges in her mouth to stay comfortable.

In the meantime, she can take a course of antibiotic, like Augmentin and mucolytic for relief. She can take vitamin E rich food to prevent dryness of the throat mucosa. She can also take vitamin E supplements. Get her treated before symptoms get worse.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
