Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Your niece is having birth defects in the developments of heart and blood channels supplying heart and lungs.

(1) Large ostium secendum ASD with L-R shunt (measuring 14mm in size)
This is a hole in the upper chambers of heart causing mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated bood.

(2) Tiny perimembranous VSD with L-R shunt (measuring 2mm in size)
This is another small hole causing blood to flow across a defect in the wall separating the lower chambers of heart with blood flowing from left to right side and this is abnormal.

(3) No PDA / coarctation
This indicates that aorta, a large blood supplying channel is normal.

(4) Dilated pulmonary arteries
Channels transporting blood from heart to lung are enlarged due to holes in the heart.

(5) Dilated RA/RV.
The upper and lower chambers of heart are enlarged due to the back flow of blood and the right side of heart doing extra pumping action.

Please consult a cardiologist and discuss in detail.
