Hello and welcome to HCM, Itching and swelling between vaginal opening and anal opening could be due to local skin condition. As you have mentioned that you are approaching menopause, it could be a sign of senile change in the perineal skin. Menopause is usually associated with senile vaginitis. Senile vaginitis is characterized by irritation and itching in the vagina. Estrogen ointment helps to relieve the irritation and itchiness. A clinical assessment of the region is required for diagnosis and thus treatment. Consult your primary healthcare provider for that.
