What Does It Mean When A Kidney Stone Seen In An Ultrasound Scan Cannot Be Viewed In A CT Scan?
Hi Doctor, my age is 45 years, Male. Two months back two stones measuring 4.2 MM in left kidney detected through Ultrasound. 15 days back CT Scan detected no stone. Today, Ultrasound detected one small 3mm concretion in left kidney without hydronephrosis. I am having burning sensation while urinating and sensation in the lower abdomen in case of gap of time in urinating. There is no UTI detected via urine culture. My prostate size is 24*22*26 mm. Prostic weight is 8 grams. Pre void volume is 396 cc. Post void residue is significant 41 cc. I am taking Levofloxacin 500 mg and Silodal 4mg one each daily but no help! My problem is burning in urine and sensation in lower abdomen with no major pain in abdomen. Kindly suggest.
The non appearance of a stone on the CT may indicate radiolucent nature of the stone which can be detected only via ultrasound or filling defect with dye study.
The disappearance of one stone indicates its natural expulsion via urine. Current burning and rest symptoms are in relation with urinary gravels irritating the wall of the bladder and urethra.
Plenty of liquids, urinary alkaliser, vitamin C supplements and antibiotic will resolve the issue within the best possible time period.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wish you great health.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
