What Does It Mean When A Dipstick Test Shows Blood In Urine?

I just had a urine dipstick test and it said I had blood in my urine. I feel fine have no pain, no trouble urinating nothing to cause me any concern until i had this test today. I plan on having a urinalysis done soon, but is a false positive dipstick test common?

Hello,

If the test has shown blood in the urine, and you are asymptomatic, it would be proper to get it investigated. It would include a urine culture and antibiotic sensitivity, an ultrasound examination of the kidneys, ureter and urinary bladder, and a possible cystoscopic examination. It is important that you consult a urologist who would do the necessary investigations and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
