What Does Inflammation On The Knees And Thighs Indicate?

I went to my doctor with 2 golf ball size inflamations, one on the back side of my left knee joint and on my right thigh near the hip, which he suspected may be MRSA. He took a swab and said he will get back with the results. He put me on 500mg Cephalexin, three times a day. I am confused as many sources indicate cephalexin is not effective against MRSA

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have gone through your complaints and yes cephalexin is not effective in the treatment of MRSA. That’s why the doctor has taken the swab to confirm the presence of the microorganism and antibiotic sensitivity so that the antibiotic can be started accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
