What Does Heavy Spotting During 9 Weeks Of Pregnancy Suggest?

I am 9 weeks pregnant and i had my first obgyn appointment today. While doing a pap she noticed I had a tampon stuck inside me. I honestly think it has been there for 6 months. She pulled it out and said since I didn t bleed that I shouldn t. About 7 hours later I started spotting and now it is heavier then I believe is ok. I this normal is my baby still ok?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There is possibility of pelvic inflammation following tampon being stuck inside for 6 months. This may cause bleeding or 9 weeks pregnancy with spotting can suggest hormonal deficiency. Fetal well being needs to be assessed by investigations like USG scan and hormonal estimation. Please consult a gynecologist for the same.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
