What Does Heart Functioning At 20% Indicate?
My husband is 42 years old, and has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, and High Blood Pressure. Recently, he went into Cardiac Arrest and was in a coma and on life support. The Dr. Told us while he was in the hospital that the heart was only working at 20%. Now, it is down to 20%. What does this mean ? Is he slowly deteriorating ? Can he have a heart transplant ? What can be done to lengthen his life span ? He has a defibrillator placed nun and his heart muscles are damaged.

I really appreciate your concern, in comatose patient nothing can be said without seeing the patient clinically and studying all the reports, if the cardiac function is not well then prognosis may not be good, and this condition thinking about the heart transplant may not create any sense, and this may be not good idea, hope this information helps, take care.
