What Does Gallbladder In The Colon Indicate?

I had a colonoscopy done about 2 months ago. I understood the doctor to say that my gall bladder is in my colon. He didn t say what could be done (other than meds) to correct the problem. My question is what problems are there with your gall bladder being in the wrong place? How did that happen?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

That just does not make sense. I suspect there is a mis-hearing or misinterpretation of something. The colon has to be a closed space or there would be leaking into the rest of the body and this would be fatal. The gallbladder takes bile in from the liver and puts it into the gut. Sometimes germs from the gut go backward into the gallbladder and give infection that mostly requires the gallbladder to be removed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
