Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dad"s blood pressure has been fluctuating too much day to day. One day it will be 160 over 102 and the next day it is 102 over 60. What does that mean when the systolic and diastolic readings flip flop day to day in such a drastic way? Is this something very serious?
Blood pressure recording should be done in a repetitive pattern and not sporadically. Single measures should not prompt concern. Decisions are best made from an average value from a two week span. Record his blood pressure on a schedule every day. It should be taken seated after a 10-15 min period of relaxation. The two week average is the best way of gauging concern.
