What Does Elevated Sex Hormone Binding Globulin In Blood Indicate?

I've recently had two SHBG tests (within to weeks of each other). The first test came back slightly high, but the second test came back even higher. I have been advised that I can either repeat the test in 8 weeks or have scans done of my ovaries and other associated organs. What does it meant to have high SHBG? What treatment should I do?

Hello and thank you for asking on HCM!
The pathologies associated with high SHBG level are:
-Liver disease.
-Hyperthyroidism.
-Eating disorders (anorexia nervosa)
-Corticosteroids or estrogen use (hormone replacement therapy and oral -contraceptives)
-Decreased sex hormone production (hypogonadism)
-Pregnancy.
Your treating phycisian should exclude these pathologies if SHBG persists high.
