What Does Diverticulosis On Colonoscopy Suggest?

I just had a colonoscopy this morning. Have been sitting here looking through my colon photos and saw pockets. I wondered what they were. The Dr. Never mentioned them. The Dr. said I looked fine and don't need another colonoscopy for another 10 years. He actually said mine was the cleanest colon all day. That I did a great job doing my med prep.Then I read the other papetwork sent home with me and saw he had written diverticulosis. Can you explain this to me more clearly? My Mom had diverticulitis and IBS and has lots of bowel problems.

Diverticulosis is a condition when there are multiple pouches form in your intestine due to chronic straining condition. These pouches are not at all life threatening unless and untill they got infected (and then its call diverticulitis) , and they only got infected when you are having chronic constipation and even then they can be treated with medications except in few cases. but my advice is that you dont need to worry about these pouches and just maintain an healthy life style, dont let constipation to go on . Take fiber in your diet , drink plenty of water atleast 2 liters in a day , dont take heavy meal at night, and eat atleast three hours before bed time.
